The Museum Collection. The crèches of Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal
Permanent Exhibition
The Oratory’s Nativity Scene exhibit is divided into two parts. The first part, entitled The Museum Collection – The Crèches of Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal, highlights the Oratory’s two large outdoor Nativity Scenes as well as a selection of smaller pieces.
The second part, entitled A World in a Crèche, allows visitors to discover nearly one hundred Nativity Scenes from as many countries on five continents. In all, visitors will be able to contemplate more than 125 works that bear witness to the creativity of artists who, using a wide variety of materials, have shaped their vision of the Nativity of the Lord.
THE SAINT OF MOUNT ROYAL
Exhibit on the life of Brother André
Level 4
Free
Throughout his life, Brother André (1845-1937) gave hope to his contemporaries, who hoped for a better life, for healing, for appeasement. And, at the dawn of retirement, he founded Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal, the largest pilgrimage site dedicated to Saint Joseph.
Come and discover, or recall, the life of this modest, welcoming man who listened to and served others, through a timeline retracing the great moments of his life. Canonized in 2010, Saint Brother André is today the patron saint of caregivers, as well as marking the lives of many pilgrims.
