What to do when an organised group arrives at Saint Joseph’s Oratory
Organized groups arriving at Saint Joseph’s Oratory by charted bus must follow the following procedure:
Get the Visitor’s Guide, a 32-page booklet in a practical pocket format with a wealth of information about the places to explore and their main points of interest.
Get the site map of the Oratory, a practical guide to help you find your way around the Shrine.

To get to Saint Joseph’s Oratory by public transit, check the routes and schedules of the Société de transport de Montréal network.
The site of Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal is a facility adapted for individuals with restricted physical abilities. It received this certification from the Keroul organization in March 2012. It is also a destination on Montréal’s Accessible Route circuit.
The places of worship and reflection, service pavilions, museum, and permanent exhibition on Saint Brother André, meeting rooms, and the Jean XXIII Pavilion have facilities adapted for wheelchair users. Elevators provide easy access to all levels, from the main entrance to the Basilica. Parking spaces are reserved for permit holders.
The team of the Pilgrimage for the Sick provides services and activities for the sick, elderly, or mobility-impaired individuals. During certain celebrations, its volunteer brigade takes care of welcoming and assisting wheelchair users, in addition to ensuring the well-being of the sick.
To facilitate movement on the site, individuals with restricted mobility can borrow a wheelchair when visiting the Oratory. This service is free of charge.
It is necessary to present identification at the welcome desk located at the main entrance of the Oratory. This identification is returned to the holder upon the wheelchair’s return. Wheelchairs are also available to pilgrims during the Eucharistic celebrations held in the Basilica.
General dress code for all visitors
All visitors are required to adhere to the dress code at the Oratory. Basic guidelines include covering shoulders before entering.
As it is a Catholic shrine, visitors must dress appropriately, following these restrictions:
Only assistance dogs or guide dogs for the visually impaired are allowed on the premises.
