Biographical Notes
Rector of Saint Joseph’s Oratory : Father Bernard Antoine, CSC
Brief biographical notes on Father Bernard Antoine, CSC
Born in Dondon, Haiti, Bernard Antoine was baptized on March 19th, the feast of Saint Joseph. At the age of 20, he entered the Congregation of Holy Cross; he took his perpetual vows as a religious in July 1993 and was ordained a priest the following December 19th.
From 1993 to 2000, he taught at Collège Notre-Dame du Perpétuel Secours in Cap-Haïtien, where he was later entrusted with a number of responsibilities in educational management. He returned to the school from 2009 to 2017 as professor of psychology and general manager. Between these two commitments, he pursued post-graduate studies in Paris, before being appointed director of the Holy Cross seminary in Haiti.
He also trained as an engineer.
From his native island to the island of Montreal, where he landed on a fine autumn day in 2017, Father Antoine’s career has been rich in experience, knowledge, encounters, and commitments, all of which he is sure to put to good use in his new role.
