Journey with the Major Reliquary of Saint Brother André
Embarking on a journey alongside the Major Reliquary of Saint Brother André is akin to journeying alongside the saint himself; this has been my profound experience over the past four years. As I traverse various locales carrying the Relic of Saint Brother André, from churches to schools, colleges to senior citizens’ homes, and into the embrace of numerous families, I have had the privilege to join in prayer with countless individuals. This relic, comprised of fragments from Brother André’s heart, has served as a conduit for spiritual connection, eliciting awe and reverence from small gatherings to large throngs alike. Witnessing the tears of joy shed by many as they venerate the Relic underscores the intimate and heartfelt encounters individuals have with this humble saint.
Saint Brother André’s enduring influence transcends boundaries, resonating with people from all walks of life. Regardless of social status, education, marital status, or vocation, his welcoming presence touches the hearts and minds of diverse communities, from clergy to laypersons, from the sick to the healthy, and from the young to the old. Through his simplicity and humility, Brother André unites individuals of varied backgrounds in gratitude for the gift of life. Both indigenous peoples and immigrants from around the globe find solace and companionship in him, as he offers hope, reconciliation, and peace, bridging the gaps between cultures and backgrounds.
My personal odyssey alongside Saint Brother André has led me to diverse dioceses across Canada and the United States, spanning from Quebec to Texas, from Ontario to Florida. While each mission trip brings its own set of challenges, including adverse weather conditions and physical fatigue, the inner strength derived from the prayers of Saint Brother André and Saint Joseph sustains me throughout.
Every program featuring the Exposition of the Relic is a testament to the transformative power of faith. Through talks on Saint Brother André, Eucharistic Adoration, Holy Mass, and the Anointing and Blessing with the Oil of Saint Joseph, profound physical, emotional, and spiritual healings occur. Testimonies of miraculous healings abound, while silent expressions of gratitude reverberate throughout these sacred gatherings.
Journeying alongside the Major Reliquary of Saint André prompts me to delve deeper into his life, inspiring introspection and self-examination. As a consecrated member of the Congregation of Holy Cross, I find solace in Brother André’s example, drawing courage and renewal each day to emulate his holiness. His timeless counsel echoes in my heart: “Do not be afraid, but simply be yourself, and through countless acts of goodness, glorify God by touching the hearts and minds of many people.”
